## Visual Reference
![Mailrith account settings page open to the Billing tab.](https://mailrith.com/docs/screenshots/account-settings.png)

The billing area shows the current plan state and provides the correct next action: upgrade, review trial status, or manage an existing subscription.

## Where Billing Lives

Manage billing from [Settings](https://mailrith.com/docs/account-settings.md). The billing area shows the account owner's current plan, the upgrade options available for the workspace, and the button that opens the billing portal when the workspace already has a paid subscription.

Mailrith uses Dodo Payments for checkout, payment method management, invoice access, and subscription changes. When you click a checkout or customer portal button, Mailrith opens the Dodo-hosted page for the billing task you selected.

## Trial And Paid Plan States

The billing page shows different options based on the workspace owner's plan state:

- **Trial Required:** New workspace owners must choose a monthly or annual Solo, Pro, or Agency plan and complete checkout before the workspace opens. When trial days are available, this starts the free trial. Mailrith shows a Start Trial page with the available plan choices.
- **Trial:** Mailrith shows the remaining trial time in the header while trial time is available. When the trial ends, Mailrith waits for the plan payment result. If the subscription stays active, the selected paid plan continues. If payment fails or the subscription is cancelled or expires, Mailrith returns the workspace to plan selection until paid access starts again.
- **Paid:** Mailrith shows subscription details and a **Manage subscription** path instead of checkout cards.

A workspace plan controls how many workspaces and team members the owner can use. Solo includes one workspace and the owner only. Pro includes five workspaces and five team members. Agency includes 15 workspaces and 15 team members. Each Agency add-on adds one workspace and five team members.

## Start Checkout For A New Workspace

New workspace owners see the Start Trial page after signing in. The page shows the monthly and annual Solo, Pro, and Agency choices. The trial length, when trial days are available, and prices come from Mailrith's current plan settings.

1. Sign up for Mailrith or sign in after creating your account.
2. Verify your email if Mailrith asks you to do that first.
3. On **Start Your Mailrith Trial** or **Choose Your Mailrith Plan**, compare the Solo, Pro, and Agency plan cards.
4. Click the button on the plan interval you want. It may include the number of trial days, such as **Start 14-Day Trial**, or say **Continue to Checkout** when no trial days are available.
5. Complete checkout on the secure Dodo Payments page.
6. Return to Mailrith. When Mailrith confirms the subscription update, the workspace opens with the correct plan or trial access.

## Checkout And Customer Portal

Use checkout when a workspace owner needs a paid plan. Use the customer portal after you have a paid subscription and need to update payment details, view invoices, or manage the subscription.

1. Click **Settings** in the left sidebar.
2. Click the **Billing** tab.
3. Review the plan cards, then choose the plan and billing interval you want.
4. Click the button for that plan, then complete payment on the secure Dodo page.
5. Return to Mailrith after checkout is complete. The billing page refreshes and shows the paid state after Mailrith receives the subscription update.

If checkout is temporarily unavailable, Mailrith keeps the pricing cards visible so you can still review plan options. Try checkout again later; do not change product data or recreate the workspace to fix a temporary checkout issue.

## Agency Add-Ons

Agency add-ons are available only when the account owner is on an active Agency plan. You cannot buy an Agency add-on by itself. Each add-on adds one workspace and five team members to the Agency limits.

1. Click **Settings** in the left sidebar.
2. Click the **Billing** tab.
3. Confirm the current plan badge says **Agency**.
4. Find **Agency Add-Ons**.
5. In **Add-On Quantity**, enter the total number of add-ons you want on the subscription.
6. Click **Update**.
7. Wait for Mailrith to confirm the Dodo Payments subscription update. The workspace and team member limits shown in Billing update after the subscription is refreshed.

If the Agency add-on controls are not visible, check that the subscription is active and that you are signed in as the account owner or another user who can manage billing.

## What An Upgrade Unlocks

Upgrades apply to the workspace experience in Mailrith. After a workspace has paid access, paid feature areas open from the sidebar without the upgrade screen. Features that were visible but locked before paid access become usable.

- **Automation features:** use automations and magic links for behavior-based workflows.
- **Reusable email assets:** manage email templates and use starting points in broadcasts and sequences.
- **Team workflows:** invite team members and manage detailed permissions.
- **AI writing:** connect supported AI providers and use AI drafting in broadcasts, sequences, and automations.

If you upgrade but still see an upgrade screen, check that the active workspace is the [Workspace](https://mailrith.com/docs/workspaces.md) you upgraded. The sidebar workspace switcher controls which workspace is active.

## Billing Checklist For Owners

- Keep the payment method in the customer portal current so billing issues do not interrupt important campaigns.
- Use the same account owner for billing and workspace ownership when possible. This helps your team know who controls the subscription.
- Review Mailrith's legal pages with your team if your organization needs processor terms or privacy details.
- After upgrading, open the feature you need from the sidebar and confirm that the upgrade screen no longer appears before you plan a live campaign around that feature.
- If your team cannot see a paid feature, check that the active workspace has a paid plan and that the team member has the required workspace permissions.
